What to expect

At the first appointment, which takes about an hour, a full case history is taken.  This fully investigates your problem and any relevant medical history.  An examination is then carried-out into your mobility and the health of your musculoskeletal system.  This involves assessing your posture and asking you to perform some simple movements.  Clinical tests may be done, such as blood pressure and reflexes.

At this point a diagnosis is made and discussed with you, along with a treatment plan if treatment is appropriate for you.

If I feel you would be better served elsewhere, e.g. by referral to your GP for X-rays/blood tests, or to a private provider for MRI  or another type of scan this can be done.

Treatment is most often a combination of soft-tissue massage, stretching, joint mobilisation and manipulation and similar techniques, and is generally comfortable and relaxing.

At follow-up appointments, which are thirty minutes, we discuss your progress and continue with the treatment plan.

Most patients typically need three to five sessions to experience meaningful change.  However, every person and problem is different and so this may take longer, but if we are not happy with your progress I will re-assess your problem and we can discuss how best to proceed.
